Laser Age Spot + Sun Spot Removal

Age spots and sun spots, also known as pigmented lesions, are blemishes on the skin associated with aging and exposure to the sun. These include: bluish, purplish, black or otherwise discoloured spots, freckles and sun-damaged skin areas.

What are age spots?

Age spots, or lentigines, refer to the brown spots we see on sun damaged skin. They tend to appear on the areas of the body which receive the most amount of sun, for example on the hands, face, shoulders, and arms.

Are there any side effects to treatment?

Overall, treatments are gentle and mild, causing only slight discomfort with minimal side effects.

How does laser age spot treatment work?

This treatment works by directing a beam of laser light to the target chromophore which is the dark pigment (melanin) within the age spot. This removes the abnormality without scarring or damage, resulting in improved skin texture and reduced signs of aging.

How many treatments are required?

The number of required treatments is dependent on such factors as lesion depth and size. Most people with dermal lesions see amazing results after only one or two sessions.

FAQs

• Use mild cleansers and moisturizers.

• Avoid sun exposure throughout the course of treatment and use a broad-spectrum (UVA/UVB) sun block SPF 30 or greater when treated area is exposed to the sun.

• Treated lesions will likely crust, then slough over the course of several days or weeks. Do not pick and scratch any scab that forms post treatment, as it could cause scarring.

These post care instructions are intended to be a thorough guide following treatment, which include but may not be limited to the above. If you have any questions following your treatment, please contact the clinic for assistance.
